I'm planning on getting a camera, but am not so sure if I should get a SLR or a camcorder. Specifically, what kind of camera should I buy for $900 and lower? I need a camera that is durable, a Canon, Nikon, Sony, has optical zoom, HD, and auto focus. It needs to be able to take good "professional" pictures and videos. Thanks much for all the help!

I recently sold off my 18-55mm non IS lens. I was not very satisfied with its performance. I would like to buy the EF 50mm f/1.8 II bcz its cheap and fits my budget. On the other hand i take a lot of landscape photos so would it be wise to buy a prime lens?? I heard its better to have a IS lens if camera is hand held all time.... i dont use a tripod so should i buy the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Lens?? please help me

I am debating if I should only get the canon rebel xt body and the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens or if i should get the kit. What do you guys think? I plan to take a lot of landscape pictures too...so is the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 or kit lens better for landscape? I am on a tight budget so please refrain from suggesting high-end lens.
thanks
